Space For Dads Volunteer

An ideal person for the role would have:
- A non-judgemental, encouraging nature
- Ability to listen
- A value in the importance of family life
- An enjoyment in communicating with adults
- Experience as a parent
- To be available (if applicable) without your own children
- Ability to set up and coordinate a Facebook group for the members
What you would be doing:
- Hosting the informal space for fathers to meet
- Coordinating the session content to meet the needs of the groups members
- Befriending the men who attend and linking them to support in the community as needed
Amount of time required
- One evening a week in term time
- Team meetings as required
Support offered to you:
- Initial 6 sessions of training with other Hope volunteers
- Ongoing contact with a Hope leader to ask any questions or individual advice
- Ongoing training, offering discussion to build up areas of understanding in order to support fathers

Other relevant information:
- Children are not encouraged to attend the evening meetings but activities specifically for the fathers to bring their children will be planned into the group times.
