Space For Dads Volunteer

An ideal person for the role would have:

• A non-judgemental, encouraging nature
• Ability to listen 
• A value in the importance of family life
• An enjoyment in communicating with adults 
• Experience as a parent
• To be available (if applicable) without your own children 
• Ability to set up and coordinate a Facebook group for the members

What you would be doing:

• Hosting the informal space for fathers to meet
• Coordinating the session content to meet the needs of the groups members
• Befriending the men who attend and linking them to support in the community as needed

Amount of time required 

• One evening a week in term time 
• Team meetings as required

Support offered to you:

• Initial 6 sessions of training with other Hope volunteers
• Ongoing contact with a Hope leader to ask any questions or individual advice
• Ongoing training, offering discussion to build up areas of understanding in order to support fathers

Other relevant information:

• Children are not encouraged to attend the evening meetings but activities specifically for the fathers to bring their children will be planned into the group times.
